Music Teaching

“Music lessons at the University of Gloucestershire have been one of the main highlights of my three years at university.
I have been able to continue developing my love for music whilst studying Psychology. Ian Higginson’s  passion, enthusiasm and sense of humour during lessons made both learning and performing fun and enjoyable. With his caring attitude and reasonable prices Ian has the ability to bring out the musical talent in every student he teaches no matter what their ability and helps them to realise their true potential.”

“Lessons with Ian were always very positive. He explained everything clearly and had some great methods for teaching difficult techniques and pieces. I always felt encouraged after each lesson.”

“Singing is really important to me and  this is one of the reasons I came to this university. The one to one lessons I have are vital and have helped me with my singing technique and confidence with performing.”
“Having done a lot of choral recitals and some solos as a scholar, I asked Ian if he could help me reach my goal to achieve a diploma in singing before I graduate this year. He was very helpful and gave me a lot of encouragement, making me feel valued and helping me to stay motivated through his fun approach to teaching. I took the diploma at the end of June and have since learnt that I was successful. I am in no doubt that  this is due to Ian’s encouragement and would recommend him as a teacher to others. I hope to continue studying with Ian after I graduate and hope that many others can benefit from his generosity and commitment to music at the university in the future.”

‘The assessment was a great confidence booster for my daughter and gave her the opportunity to put in to practice all she has learnt. It was clearly structured, but also fun rather than intimidating. The feedback gave her clear guidance as to how she can improve’.
